ABOUT MK

Michael Kistler is an artist specializing in fine art street photography. Originally from Minneapolis, his work has taken him to numerous cities around the world chasing the next fleeting moment. With a decade-long sojourn in Tokyo, followed by eight years in the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong, he now finds himself once again amid its bustling streets after a two-year interlude in Singapore.

A signature element in his work is an often understated human element and its connection to the city; he is constantly searching for and exploring unconventional perspectives and unique moments where people and the urban landscape collide, merge and co-exist. Reflections, blur, multiple layers and abstraction are common elements in his work.

Michael's photography has been exhibited and published widely; He is currently represented by Blue Lotus Gallery and the Hong Kong Arts Collective in Hong Kong and Picture This in the UK. He is co-founder of Click 852 in Hong Kong, a mentor through Soho House and Own Academy for young aspiring creatives and a ‘super fan’ with the Hong Kong Tourism Board. In addition to fine art creation, he also offers mentoring and coaching to other photographers as well as bespoke portrait, product and lifestyle shoots.

Michael has worked with clientele from all over the world, including:
